Archive for the “Photography” CategoryPart of the “authors@google” series – Joe McNally, speaking at google. Joe McNally’s is has a great personality and is one heck of a photographer. His talk in interesting and inspirational. I would love any opportunity to adopt his lifestyle. Here are a few photos from last weeks trip to Munich. I wil slowly add more photos to this set. I traveled to Munich by car on the autobahn and through the black forest with some friends from Freiburg who were traveling back home to visit their family. You can click on the photo for more info or to open in a new window. I really want to buy a Holga camera to play with. I have seen the coolest images taken with it. I know there is a hack to use the Holga lens on a dslr. I want to do that mod, but pictures like these below are not quite possible with digital. First off, I have shot 120 B&W film in the past and medium format is just cool to me, also fun to shoot. However, sprocket hole photography beats that. How to details are here; as well as many other places. This is something I have to try soon.

The Rascal House – Death of an EraPosted by: daniel in Photography, tags: deli, Miami, Rascal HouseWolfie Cohen’s Rascal House – An amazing deli in Sunny Isles, Florida served up charm and excellent food. The restaurant opened in 1954 and developed a very loyal customer base over the years. One loyal customer happened to be myself. The corned beef sandwich was nothing less than amazing. Last Saturday I drove by the Rascal House only to find it had tragically closed its doors after 54 years. I pushed my disbelief aside and snapped some photos of the aftermath. After exploring what used to be one of my favorite restaraunts, I searched the internet at the adjacent Starbucks only to find out that the last meal was served less than a week previous. The news was published in the Miami Herald article “Death of a deli: Rascal House closing for good”. These photos were taken less than one week after the closing of the restaurant. It is amazing to see how fast over a half century of fond memories can be demolished in less than a week. I contemplated taking a porting of the awning with the ‘lil Rascal mascot on it, but it reaked of mildew. In fact there was a lingering smell as I walked around the building. Below are a few photos taken. Additional photos can be found in my Rascal House flickr set. News Coverage of the Closing
